Description
EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) is a global standard for credit and debit cards that have an embedded microchip. This microchip stores and secures card information, and can be used to authenticate transactions at point of sale terminals that are equipped with EMV technology.
EMV cards also rely on strong encryption from the merchant’s POS system. Each card creates a unique transaction code every time a payment is made. This code is then decoded and authenticated by the POS terminal for processing the transaction.
